 Melody, Fernando, Oljaii (Moon), Ndezolth (gentle rain)
Our Daughter Oljaii was born Jan 27th, 2002 and it was early morning at a Natural birthing center in Farmington, NM. Upon here birth I ran Outside to look for a significant sign to mark the moment of her birth. Not seeing anything immediatly I started to turn around to go back inside. That is when I saw this magnificent full moon with a ring around it and the brightstar venus next to it the navajo call this the winter moon. We are able to experience this occasion every year for her birthday. Oljaii's full name means "Daughter of the Winter Moon"
Melody gave birth to Ndezolth in our Santa Fe home in a birthing pool. Now the energy at her moment of birth was this gently falling rain with the sun setting and very little clouds in the sky. It made me wonder where the rain was coming from. My grandmother explained that this gentle rain is a female energy and the rain has welcomed our second daughter.
The experience with these births are an honor and blessing. I truly enjoy sharing these moments of my life and share the beauty I have been blessed to experience. The experiences in my life is how I create my artwork so I may share my life energy with my collectors. (Fernando)
 Marcelina Calavaza (Santo Domingo) This wonderful women truly captures the native spirit. Marcelina's work is world famous and the energy of her jewelry peices are a tribute to the original native artwork of stringing beads from the southwest region. Beads have been traded from ancient times and used as a source of income and it is still alive to this day. To be able to buy work from an artist like Marcelina is a blessing and she says this is full time for her. She says she is getting old an does not know how much more she will do with her artwork.
 Herman Martinez is a Navajo artist raised on the reservation. Herman has been silversmithing for over 35 years and has been featured in many magazines. He is reviving his traditional line of artwork and does silversmithing full time. Herman makes his own stamps for his intricate stamped designs on his jewelry. He makes his own stamps so you know you are getting a peice that is original and is not a stamp that is readily available in the jewerly supply market. Herman also does tufa cast so look forward to seeing other works of art from this artist.
